Common FAQ's
What does a cat sitting visit include?
Each visit is tailored to your pet’s needs, but typically includes feeding, fresh water, litter tray cleaning, playtime or cuddles (if your cat desires), and a general wellbeing check. Depending on the service add-ons selected, we can also water plants, collect post, and handle any other specific requests made during the visit.
How long are your visits?
Our standard visits are 30 minutes long, but we can offer longer or shorter visits depending on your cat’s routine and needs. You can make this request during the initial booking communication.
Will I get updates during the visits?
Absolutely! Our pet sitters can send daily photo and/or message updates so you can see how your pet is doing and have peace of mind whilst you are away. Cats in the City also recommends that pet owners use a pet camera for additional reassurance and to notify us if any illness or abnormal behavior is noticed so we can help if needed.
Can you administer medication?
Yes! We have pet sitters experienced in administering medication. Please be sure to mention this when booking so that an appropriate pet sitter can be arranged.
What areas do you cover?
We currently serve many areas such as Canary Wharf, Isle of Dogs, Limehouse, Blackwall, Poplar, and Westferry, Bethnal green, Wapping, canning town and more! constantly expanding and we are looking to expand our services across London in the future — check our areas covered page for updates!
Are you insured and DBS checked?
Yes, your peace of mind is our utmost priority. As a company we are fully insured, and all of our pet sitters have undergone a full DBS check.
Will I meet the sitter beforehand?
Of course! We offer a complimentary initial meet and greet before your booking so you can get to know us and your pet sitter. During this meeting we can discuss routines, feeding regimes, and answer any questions you may have. We have full trust in all of our pet sitters and think you will love them, but this also allows you to ensure the sitter is the right match for you and your pet.
How do I book a service?
Booking is easy. Simply go to the enquiry page and fill out the contact form with your information and any additional notes. We will then be in touch to discuss the booking further and provide a tailored quote.
What if my cat hides?
It’s very common for cats to hide when someone new enters their home, especially during the first few visits. Our sitters are experienced with shy and nervous cats and will always respect your cat’s comfort level.
If your cat prefers to stay hidden, we will never force interaction. Instead, we quietly complete the essential care tasks such as feeding, refreshing water, cleaning the litter tray, and checking your cat’s wellbeing from a distance.
Many cats become more confident after a few visits once they realise the sitter is there to care for them. If your cat chooses to come out for play or attention, we’re always happy to spend time with them.
We will also send you an update after every visit so you know how your cat is doing.
